Description

Gazing into the celestial depths of Canis Major, we encounter NGC 2359, aptly nicknamed "Thor's Helmet." This emission nebula, shimmering like a celestial visor, unveils a dramatic tale of stellar evolution and interstellar winds. At its heart beats WR7, a ferocious Wolf-Rayet star. This cosmic behemoth, radiating with 200,000 times the Sun's luminosity, sculpts the surrounding gas into a bubble-like helmet. Its fierce stellar winds push outward, carving intricate filaments and sculpting a bow shock wave – a shimmering blue wall marking the boundary between the nebula and the interstellar medium.
